First and foremost, a very BIG thank you to each and every one of you who responded to the collection drive we started in December 2025 in support of our brother and friend, Kintu Ivan.
Your generosity went far beyond what money can measure. The contributions towards his treatment gave him not only much-needed practical support, but also hope, encouragement and the feeling that he was not walking this difficult journey alone.
The love and support genuinely made a difference.
I'm happy to share that Ivan is generally healing well. He still has mild but persistent eye problems and recurrent skin issues, which have meant that he remains on constant medication. However, compared to where he was when we started the collection, there has been encouraging progress.
The next challenge is helping him regain a more stable livelihood.
There is an old saying: “Teach me how to fish, don't give me fish.”
This is the spirit behind our second campaign:
Ivan has a wife and two young boys in primary school. He is a trained Computer Scientist and previously worked as a Production Manager, but illness interrupted his employment. He now believes that having an opportunity to work, stay productive and keep himself busy could contribute positively to both his wellbeing and his recovery, rather than spending most days sitting at home.
The idea is not simply to ask for another handout, but to help him establish a sustainable source of income that can eventually enable him to take care of his medication, support his family and regain his independence.
We are proposing phased financing, with accountability and review at every stage, so that the support can become an investment in his future rather than another short-term intervention.
Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for what you did in December. What may have felt like a simple contribution to each of us collectively became something much bigger for Ivan — treatment, encouragement, hope and a renewed belief that there is a better future ahead.
